The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model was adopted in 2003 as a FRAMEWORK for a comprehensive developmental school counseling program. ASCA is a data driven program, aligned with state and national standards, demonstrating accountability to all stakeholders, and supporting ALL students--academically, career/college readiness and social/emotionally (soft-skills), by spending the recommended 80% of counselor time in Direct Services to students. The ASCA Model is a culmination of best-practice & evidence based school counseling programs in the United States.
